Jack Barnwells’ Career with Woodwards
Jack was the
Office Manager for many years in Port Alberni.
In the early
1960’s Woodwards partnered with Steinbergs
of Montreal to open department stores in the east. They were called Miracle
Marts. Jack was selected to be the Comptroller for this venture and was moved
to Montreal. Others from Woodwards were Reg Clarridge, who was President,
and Don Eckstein.
In 1963 the Miacle Mart Venture collapsed and Jack was moved back to
Vancouver. He was then selected, along with Ian Louden, to introduce computer
systems. He spent 20 years of his career with Woodwards
as Manager of Systems and Programming in the Datacenter.
In the early 1980’s Jack
was promoted to Assistant Treasurer where he worked with Marco Gandossi, Senior Vice President of Finance.
